https://www.facebook.com/Positivity-Post-850385048367345/We keep hearing the warnings from experts and we continue to ignore them. Worse, we see the signs — the very things we’re being warned about are actually happening, yet we blithely ignore them. We have a choice to make and we’re choosing very poorly.

Wondering what I’m talking about? I’m talking about the very real addiction to technology — that dependency on smartphones and other “smart” devices that has gone from a cool convenience, to an almost uncontrollable craving. Ever see a kid respond when their parents cut them off from their smartphone as punishment? The thought of not having access to that hunk of electronic garbage makes them go apoplectic…you’d think the world was coming to an end.

“Social media giants need to stop pretending they are changing the world, making it a better place and come forward and admit that they are deliberately selling a product that is, in fact, addictive and harmful for us.”     Orge Castellano

This is a very real crisis and psychology and medical experts agree that our addiction to technology isn’t just making us dumber…it’s making us lazy, irritable and increasingly anti-social.

This video clip is one that everyone should watch, but especially parents.

Levi Wolff:

I don’t believe this crisis is being taken seriously. We’re witnessing the disintegration of the family unit and our young are particularly at risk — what will today’s kids be like when they’re adults, considering that they’re not learning the valuable social skills necessary to interact with their fellow man? What memories will they have…ones seen only on a smart device?

Life is meant to be lived one-to-one. We are social beings and we need to interact with living, breathing life, so that we can develop compassion, relationships, memories and understanding of what it means to be a descent human being — and those are things we will never learn through the internet.

“Here though, there are no oppressors. No one’s forcing you to do this. You willingly tie yourself to these leashes. And you willingly become utterly socially autistic. You no longer pick up on basic human communication clues. You’re at a table with three humans, all of whom are looking at you and trying to talk to you, and you’re staring at a screen! Searching for strangers in… Dubai!”  Dave Egger
